She didn't expect this to happen. Not like this, anyway. Sure, there was the one odd time in college that she thought about it, but no, it didn't happen. And it sure didn't happen like this.

The look on Eric's face when she broke up with him rips through her. He asked for a reason, and she couldn't give him one. It's not that she feels bad about leaving him, as she suspects he wouldn't feel terribly bad about leaving her either. But she knows why. He doesn't.

The earring burns warm between her fingers. Tina picks up the phone.

Spoilers: 1x14, "Limb From Limb"

She didn't expect this to happen. Not like this, anyway. She knows that Bette is far more stunning and vivacious than she is. But she foolishly believed that something about her would be enough to keep Bette with her.

She tries to imagine life without Bette. No coffee kisses in the morning, no rolling into her curls and legs in bed, no long fingers and a band of cool metal stroking her hair when she can't sleep. Her throat lurches at the thought of leaving all that.

But the alternative hurts too much, and so she picks up her suitcase.

Drabble: Law and Order (Harry Potter, gen, G)

Title: Law and Order
House: Ravenclaw
Words: 100
Characters, pairings: A Muggle lawyer, judge, and man, and Dumbledore

Samuel E. Goldenstein, of Goldenstein and Lymond, shook his head. His client was scribbling across his legal pad, stopping every few seconds as if to dip his ballpoint pen in ink.

"Control your client, Mr. Goldenstein," the judge said.

The man drew some strange creatures that looked like horses with wings and heads of eagles.

"Mr. Goldenstein, how does your client plead?"

Samuel looked at his client, who was mumbling about men in black who cast spells on him, and sighed. "Not guilty by reason of insanity, Judge."

Albus Dumbledore picked up The New York Times and shook his head.

A/N: Written for the "Law" challenge at [info]hp100. People commented that this one was "eerie" and gave them "the chills," which was surprising because that's not what I meant to do. More than anything, I thought the premise was sad - because when we look at this situation from the wizarding world, it is sad that they can't let Muggles know what's going on. But of course, in real life, if someone told me he was seeing hippogriffs, I might think he was insane too.
